The specialization premium
General guild tasks — content moderation, image classification, basic data entry — pay $0.03–$0.15 per task. Engineering guild tasks — security vulnerability triage, code review, API spec validation — pay $0.50–$3.00. The difference isn't arbitrary. It reflects the scarcity of verified workers in each domain and the cost developers are willing to pay for high-confidence specialist judgment.
Developers building medical AI products, for example, need annotators who can distinguish between a benign and malignant finding on a scan. There are far fewer of those than there are people who can label whether an image contains a cat. Supply and demand set the rate — and guilds make it legible.
How the 75% split works
OpenGuilds takes a 25% platform fee on every task. Workers receive 75% of the task price directly, paid in USDC to their wallet the moment a task is marked complete. No weekly batches, no payment holds, no minimum threshold to process.
On a typical Engineering guild shift of 4 hours, a veteran worker completing 12–15 code review tasks earns roughly $15–$40 USDC. On a General guild shift completing 80–100 classification tasks, a member earns roughly $3–$12 USDC. The credential investment pays off quickly.
Rank progression amplifies earnings
Within each guild, workers progress through three ranks: Member, Veteran, and Guild Master. Veteran status (500+ tasks, 95%+ accuracy) unlocks access to premium tasks and higher base rates. Guild Masters — the top 1% by accuracy — earn an additional reviewer bonus for adjudicating disputed tasks.
